Tempus: the door remains open for more gains

 
 

Many people, myself included, have been trying to decide when the housing boom will peak, but it hasn’t happened yet and nothing from the industry suggests it is coming soon.

The spring will be particularly interesting, the peak selling season coinciding with the uncertainties surrounding the election. Bellway, though, says that since January reservations are up by 10 per cent, so there is no sign of the market coming off the boil.

As ever with the big housebuilders, all the metrics are moving in the right direction. Bellway is investing in further growth and it increased the amount it spent on land in the half-year that ended in January by 48 per cent to £355 million.

This, however, only maintains the number of plots
